Welcome to my blog

Hi, my name is Ray Charles. I am a 10 1/2 year old mixed breed. They said I'm a husky mix, but I'm told I don't look much like a husky. I don't know, because I can't see. I was born without eyes. No big deal, I never had 'em, so I don't know what I'm missing.
Obviously, I can't see to type, but my human mom is obligingly taking down my dictation.
I could never do this before, because my sister Sasha would never let Isis (my other sister) or I near the computer. Unfortunately, she's gone, but at least I can finally blog.
One of the reasons I started this is to talk about my arthritis treatment. Last week I went to the vet, got way too much blood drawn, and about a million x rays. I bet I'm glowing.
Anyway, apparently I have arthritis everywhere. Like the limping and creaking around didn't clue them in?
I've been on Glycoflex III and Super Dog Treats , which have helped, but it's getting worse, so we're looking into other treatments as well. Apparently there are different pills and supplements that we can try. As long as they hide 'em in liverwurst, it's OK by me.
There is something called stem cell injections. They take some fat from your back, and pull stem cells out, then stick the stem cells in the creaky joints. However, it's expensive, doesn't last forever, and I would have to go under anesthesia twice. The company who does this is Vet Stem. We're going to try some other things first, and if they don't help, we'll research the stem cell thing further.
Tomorrow, I go for acupuncture. I'm not sure I like the sound of that, but we'll see.
I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Anyway, thanks for reading my blog. I'll post tomorrow after the acupuncture (eesh).

Hi Ray
We enjoyed reading your blog, and we wish you the very best of luck tomorrow with your acupuncture.
Our Golden Ginger has had the acupuncture and it did seem to help in the beginning but now I don't notice it working anymore perhaps to her arthritis becoming worse. We are and have tried many, many supplements and just can't seem to find one that works. We may go back and try the Adequan injections again.
Good Luck Ray and keep us posted.

You are a very handsome boy!!!

Hi Ray Charles,

Well since you can't see let us see for you and tell you that you are the most handsome dog we have seen for a while. Besides the fact that with all that creaking you are also musical. Flurry and I hope your treatment helps though and you can go back to just being handsome instead of handsome and creaky.

wooo,
Aja

What a gorgeous bunch of dogs, especially Ray! I wish you luck with your acupuncture. Our previous Great Pyrenees mix, Tabu, had arthritis bad. We began giving her Glucosamine Chondroitin with MSM, seemed to help. She was on it until the day she passed. How I miss my baby.....

Hey Ray! Holly here. I was a friend of Sasha's. I really miss her, but am sooo glad you are blogging now.

I know all about that creaky arthritis stuff. My sister Abby and brother Samuel have that too. They both take Rimadyl and Cosequin and Abby takes the Super Dog Treats (Sam is allergic so he can't have any).

Good luck with all the tests. I sure hope they can find something to help you!

Do you mind if I add you to my friends links?

Have a good day!

Holly
